Have you ever wanted to learn Hebrew through Israeli music, but found that it takes a lot of work?
You have to find the lyrics, figure out what the words mean, look up expressions, translate everything, and then search for information about all the Israeli cultural references you don’t understand.
This is the third song in that same project in which I try to make it simple for you 🙂
About the song
The song “ימי בנימינה” (“The Days of Binyamina”) – music by Matti Caspi, with lyrics by Ehud Manor.
It was released in 1987. It’s a song of return and disappointment: an adult goes back to the village of his childhood, only to find that the world he remembers has quietly disappeared.
If you want to understand the lyrics, here’s what you can do: listen to the song, follow along with the Hebrew lyrics, and click on words and expressions to learn more about them. Every word you click turns gold, so you can see what you’ve already explored.
Choose Your Level
